As we welcomed the Chinese New Year on February 17, 2026, we entered the rare and powerful Year of the Fire Horse. This celestial alignment occurs only once every 60 years—and for me, it marks a profound full-circle moment. I was born in 1966, the last Year of the Fire Horse, and as I turn 60 during my zodiac return, I find myself reflecting on how deeply this archetype has shaped my path and my work with horses and breathwork.
The Spirit of the Fire Horse
In Chinese astrology, the horse symbolizes freedom, strength, and forward motion. When combined with the Fire element, these qualities intensify, creating an energy that calls us toward bold transformation and authentic self-expression. The Fire Horse doesn’t simply trot along familiar paths; it gallops toward new horizons with unwavering courage.
Fire Horses are said to be passionate, independent, and unafraid to challenge convention. Looking back over six decades, I recognize this energy in many turning points of my life, from quitting my corporate job to start a business in Kazakhstan, to paddling 600 miles from Saskatchewan to the Hudson Bay, to launching a marketing agency with my husband to work with pioneers making a difference in the world. These were moments when I chose the unconventional path, trusted my instincts over others’ expectations, and ultimately found my way to this work with Haberman Harmonics.
Living the Fire Horse Path
It’s wild to think about what was happening in this country in 1966, marked by the rise of the Civil Rights movement and a profound cultural revolution. Now in 2026, we are experiencing what feels like another revolution, especially in Minneapolis, and a renewed demand for justice and human rights. Disruption, acceleration, and fiery passion define the essence of Fire Horse years.
In Chinese tradition, becoming 60 is considered a time of renewal and wisdom—a chance to integrate all you’ve learned and step more fully into your authentic power. I’ve always felt the pull toward freedom and transformation, but I’ve also learned that true courage isn’t about recklessness. It’s about presence. It’s about showing up authentically, even when that feels wildly vulnerable.
Personal Transformation and the Courage to Change
The Fire Horse teaches us that true transformation requires both heat and movement. The fire element brings passion, vitality, and the willingness to burn away what no longer serves us. The horse spirit provides the momentum to carry us forward, even when the path ahead is uncertain.
In my work with equine experiences and breathwork, I’ve witnessed how horses mirror this transformative energy. They respond not to our words but to our energy and authentic presence. They sense when we’re holding back, when fear grips us, and when we finally surrender to what is actually true for us. With practice, our breath and body can also stoke the fires within and burn off what no longer serves us, offering clarity and bold empowerment.
An Invitation for This Fire Horse Year
Whether you were born in a Fire Horse year or not, this rare celestial cycle offers all of us an opportunity to tap into this alchemical energy. As someone who can relate to this archetype, I can tell you: the Fire Horse path isn’t always easy, but it’s always authentic.
This year, I invite you to ask yourself:
- Where in your life are you being called to greater courage?
- What would I attempt if I trusted the timing of my life?
- How might you channel the Fire Horse’s fearless forward motion into your own journey of healing and growth?
The Fire Horse doesn’t ask for perfection. It asks for presence, for authenticity, and for the courage to move toward what calls to your heart, even when the way isn’t clear.
As I embrace this new year, I’m more committed than ever to this work of helping others find their own path to harmony and transformation. The horses have been my greatest teachers in this, showing me that courage and vulnerability are not opposites, but partners in the dance of authentic living.
May this Year of the Fire Horse bring you home to yourself.
